Z Cinema Advanced Surround Sound System
The latest fashion in watching movies is to use your "multi-purpose machine" (aka the desktop PC or Notebook) in order to watch your favourite DVDs and digital videos. And the hardware makers are aware of that - so that is why they come up with very tempting solutions and good prices. Ok, so you have your DVD, you set up your PC with the latest high-tech wide screen display, you're almost ready but there's something missing - without a very good sound system, all the special audio-visual effects from the movies are pointless. They are meant to bring some sense of "reality" from the story you're watching. There are a lot of 5.1 sound systems which are pretty good, but their price is quite restrictive. Even the price of the 2.1 Z Cinéma Advanced Surround Sound System from Logitech is quite over the top - $300. However, this makes us wonder what is so special about this sound system. The main features are: surround sound without rear speakers (SRS® TruSurround HD™ gives you the impression that you're in the center of the action from the movie you're watching), high performance audio (an 8-inch long-throw subwoofer with flared bass port gives you powerful, distortion-free bass) and pure digital fidelity that offers 24bit sound quality. The sound set comes with a remote as well which helps you in using the Media Center program from Windows Media Center (both XP 2005 and the Vista version), to manage your TV programs, playlists, Internet radio and much more. This remote control with the overall quality does "explain" in a way why the price is a bit high - but who needs a good system knows that really good value doesn't come cheap.
