Your girlfriend managed to dump you in the worst possible way and now you’re feeling kind of lonely and not quite ready for a new relationship? No problem, try a virtual girl. No, I’m not referring to a webcam wild girl. I’m talking about that virtual girl in your bed.

Drew Burrows' INBED design is an "infrared-sensitive" light projected virtual girlfriend. Hey, some real-life girl actually got her body scanned and recorded doing all sorts of stuff. But what a girl! Looks like she’s a sexy brunette, although we can’t quite place her flavor from the provided picture. Anyhow, Drew claims she's got three tricks up her sleeve and she does all of them from a supine position.

If you kiss her on the cheek as you slide into bed, she'll bury her face in the virtual pillow. Wait, what? She’s shy? C’mon girl, we ain’t got all night to fool around. She moves into a spoon position if you're on your side, and snuggles up beside you when you're on your back. Now that’s more like it. Bring the goodies on!

This design was recently presented at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program Spring Show at Tisch School of the Arts, but the people weren’t too impressed with it. I mean, she's only 2D and fully clothed. She might look good but if you’re thinking about heating things up, you might want to wait for the improved version. Let me guess, a blond in a tiny bikini that isn’t that shy anymore? Oh, and instead of a 2D projector, they could be using a holographic one.
