Street scooter powered by pedals

Whenever I get to see strange products I ask myself how in earth the designer managed to come up with such ideas, because it’s very difficult to bring something new in the spotlight, especially nowadays, when we have the impression that there is nothing left to be invented anymore. But I’m proved wrong each and every time I run into products that are said to be “the world’s first…” by their manufacturers.

Just like the Pumgo, a scooter which is, according to its designer, of course, the world’s first pedal-powered street scooter. Now let’s see what the Pumgo is able to do. First of all, it is provided with two reciprocal pedals that powers the scooter, being somehow similar to the up and down motion a person does when exercising on a stair-climber machine. On the other hand, having the frame made of an alloy of strong aluminum, it is able to support heavier body weights, which means it’s not aimed at children only, but also at adults. Not to mention the fact that the three wheels make this street scooter a whole lot more stable and, of course, safer.

Another advantage of the Pumgo is that you can also enjoy the health benefits it implies, benefits that are related to the cardiovascular workout. These benefits were developed by Dr. Dan Batchelder from Atlanta, specialized in sports medicine. He said that: “Bowling, golf, push scooter riding and skateboarding only work one side of the body, leading to power back pain and muscle imbalance”. In addition, he mentioned that “the Pumgo Scooter, however, is a symmetrical exercise designed to strengthen both sides of the body. Additionally, the Pumgo Scooter delivers a faster, more efficient workout than running or biking”.

If you’re as impressed as I am, then you’d most probably like to know how much it costs. Well… $300. From Pumgo.
