Seekway 3D LED Cube
I know you most of the times check this blog because I tend to present some whacky designs and ideas. That’s exactly what I’ll give you now in the form of a magic cube.
Alright, there isn’t much magic involved with Seekway’s 3D LED display, but you might as well think of “The Cube” series or any other cubical feature you know when looking at this spectacular device. What’s so cool about it? First of all, it can display full 3D images at 30 fps with the aid of a 16X16X16 color LED matrix. IN fact, you are looking at 4096 individual interconnected diodes that are able to reproduce a fair amount of detail. Check out the shimmering stuff in this video:
The cube you see in the video is no longer a prototype and Seekway now has plans to bring the device into the production phase. In addition they are planning to release an improved 48X48X48 version with around 11k diodes. Again, we don’t really know anything about availability and price, as our Asian friends are accustomed to keeping these goodies for themselves. Cut it out guys! We like them too and we got money, good money!

Hey Jim, let’s storm Japan together and get a couple of these before they hit the market. We need a truck or something, these things are pretty heavy

That’s very similar with the Illusion PC concept.
