Positive effects of ultraviolet radiation

“Ultraviolet light is found in sunlight and is emitted by electric arcs and specialized lights such as black lights. As an ionizing radiation it can cause chemical reactions, and causes many substances to glow or fluoresce. Most people are aware of the effects of UV through the painful condition of sunburn, but the UV spectrum had many other effects, both beneficial and damaging, on human health”.

People are tempted to consider the ultraviolet light only from a negative point of view, but there are many situations when the effects of ultraviolet radiation are positive. Take the Cole Cleaner for example. This is a concept created by designer Leon Peng that is aimed at treating your soda before drinking it. Perfect for those who are afraid of falling ill, who always run their tin drinks under hot water in order to disinfect it.

Well, this is what the Cole Cleaner does. It kills the bacteria with the help of ultraviolet radiation and you’ll have to be patient from one to five minutes, so that your drink is ready to be consumed. And if you wonder how in earth you will know that the device did its job, well, let me tell you it comes with a purple LED that lights up when the mission is accomplished.

It’s kind of complicated to do this whenever you’re in the mood to drink a soda, but if you want to see the positive effects of ultraviolet radiation on the Cole Cleaner, you’ll just have to give this device a chance!
