PlayStation Vita brings the fight to handheld console devices

Sony’s PlayStation Vita is the company’s second entry into the volatile handheld gaming market. The original PlayStation Portable was successful as a traditional system, with console type games being bought in boxes. But the portable gaming market has changed in the last six years since the PSP was launched. With the emergence of Smartphones and mobile gadgets like the iPad, not to mention the availability for download of mobile game apps like Angry Bird, Temple Run and Cut the Rope Experiment; the PSP console seemed to be lost in the handheld gaming market. PS Vita is all set to make a big comeback with brand new features to boot. It packs a quad-core processor powering nearly PlayStation 3 graphics on a 5-inch AMOLED touchscreen backed up by two analog sticks, a touch-sensitive back panel, and a smartphone-style OS. It offers a home console experience on the move, putting it in an elite class all by itself.

There are a lot of exciting features on the PS Vita being offered besides the stunning graphic display of the console. One outstanding feature is the web browser on the system. It is probably the best browser to be seen on a game system to date. Though it is not up to speed with a good smartphone browser, it is very usable in basic operation. One prime example was when I went online to play a game of poker at partypoker . The graphics and resolution on the PS Vita was so impressive that it was as if you were playing on your desktop pc or at a real poker table. Partypoker is one of the world’s leading online poker sites. They offer the complete online poker experience with a huge range of games, including Omaha and Texas Hold’ em. No matter what level of play you have, whether you’re a pro or a complete beginner, you will surely find poker games to suit you at partypoker. Joining is easy. One just needs to sign up and enjoy the games online. I am looking forward to Sony PS Vita launching additional apps for games like this in the near future. But thanks to the WIFI connectivity that the Vita has, web browsing on it was pretty impressive.

The PS Vita is an impressively, feature-packed gaming gadget. It is, at least for now, the ultimate machine in handheld games. It’s a versatile gadget that is at its best in playing big, blockbuster games, bringing both handheld and big-screen console gaming experiences closer than they’ve ever been before. The PlayStation Vita is quite simply the most desirable handheld gaming device yet released. From its beautiful display to the powerful specs behind it, Sony has thought of almost everything and the result is a portable system that should be able to handle virtually any kind of game you care to mention.
