One lamp plus one flashlight is Two Lamps

There is no doubt about it anymore: people love multi-functional stuff. It’s probably because they get bored easily with things that are designed to serve one purpose and one purpose only or because they need space more than ever. Who knows? People are strange and, therefore, they enjoy strange inventions.

Either you are the most cautious human being on earth or just the paranoiac type of guy, hearing all sorts of unusual noises in the living room, during the night, and feel like investigating what happens outside your room, the Two Lamps are the perfect solution for you. No, I’m not advising you to buy a second lamp, I’m talking about a simple and genious solution for joining a rechargeable flashlight with your lamp.

There have been other attempts at mixing a flashlight with a lamp, such as the torch Gabriele Pezzini designed, which burns at both ends: a twist of the cap gives you soft candlelight emanating from the narrow end and a brighter LED beam from the flared end. But the Two Lamps, creation of design firm LifeGoods, offers one of the most elegant solutions (similar to certain lantern camping flashlights). The device combines a bedside lamp, in the stationary mode, and a rechargeable flashlight which can be plucked off so that you start your late-night adventures with the confidence that you need.

The flashlight comes with a rechargeable battery inside, so you’ll never have to worry about running out of juice when you most need it, and can be charged in the stationary mode. Maybe the flashlight isn’t powerful enough, but you should look at the bright side: you will always know where your flashlight is and there isn’t a handier place that you could ever think of. In addition, the device saves space, and that’s another thing you’ve been longing for.

Unfortunately, for all of you out there, unable to find your way in the dark and stumbling around, the news that the Two Lamps device is only a concept at the moment might wipe the smile off your faces. It would be nice, isn’t it, to see this concept finding its way to the marketplace, as it’s a great mixture of functionality and aesthetics in a single appliance.
