Lock Gadgets On Desktop
I just love my computer and all the gadgets that I installed on the desktop. They look nice and are also very useful and informative as they offer me the information I need without having to open some other web pages or look into the computer files and so on. The problem is that I use the same computer for playing cartoons for my children when I need some free time and I want them to stay calm for a while. They are still little, but they are very curious, so if I am not around when the cartoons finish, they start clicking randomly on the desktop and this way they manage to open a lot of windows they shouldn't, as they can do a lot of damage. Of course the gadget images, icons are very attractive, as they are colorful and handy. So I had the unpleasant surprise of finding a lot of changes in these gadgets or I could not find them because they were dragged and dropped somewhere else and I was not very happy about this. That is why I needed badly something to lock gadgets on desktop. I did not have to make a lot of research because I found the solution pretty easily.
I googled the phrase: lock gadgets on desktop and then I found more answers to my problem. The first answer was so simple that it looked too good to be true. Somebody from a forum told me to right click on the taskbar and select "lock taskbar" because this way the gadgets on my desktop will be locked, too. Apparently they were supposed not to show the little black options side that appears when you wave your mouse cursor on top of the gadget's picture. Well, you should try this , too, and see if it works but in my case it did not.

Anyway, I kept on looking and I found some interesting tips and tricks about how to operate all kinds of things in Windows 7. For example you can lock the desktop instantly in Windows 7 by simply pressing the windows key plus L.Somebody else gave me the idea of making a separate user for the kids where I don't need to install anything but only use the programs they need to open cartoons and something like that. But I still wanted to know if there was a way to lock the gadgets icons, not to make a separate user.

Finally I found this amazing software application that is able to both lock the desktop icons position and also disable right click in order to eliminate any possibility of installing stuff or doing some damage. After downloading it and installing it, you open a window with the settings and you can check the options like: lock icons, disable right mouse button, start disabled, show class.
It is called DeskLock and it is a simple and effective solution for what I wanted. It is easy to access as you can double click on its icon and you will be able to either enable or disable it. I also found some other software application that does the same thing - Desktop icons lock application.
