Electric Motorcycle
I’m impressed how quickly vehicle manufacturers are making the shift towards green transportation. We now have hybrid and electric cars, zero-emission planes, wave-powered and sun-powered water craft… what’s next? Looks like motorcycles are going the green way, too. Enertia seems to be the first electric motorcycle already available on the market.

The Enertia motorcycle comes equipped with six Lithium-Phosphate battery modules built by Valence Technologies, Inc. in Austin, Texas. Advertised as the most advanced battery technology currently available, this battery chemistry provides both an amazing autonomy and inherent safety not found in other Lithium-based batteries. All six modules are constantly communicating with each other and the Battery Management System (BMS) makes sure all the battery levels and temperatures are in check.
Enertia is not a sport motorcycle, so don’t expect it to reach 60 mph in a few seconds. Its top speed is around 50 mph, with a 40 mile autonomy and a 3 hour charge time. In case you can’t really afford an electric care, but you’d like something speedier than an electric bike, Enertia could prove a good alternative.
You can buy one now for $11,995. It might seem a little expensive, but once you buy it, you’ll never have to worry about gas.

It would take something like 6 years for this bike to pay for itself over a standard, gas powered motorcycle. Sooooo not worth it.

Me too. Not like the technology has been available for years. The oil companies haven’t had any hand in suppressing alternative technologies to maintain a monopoly on the market. Nope. People just now found out about being nice to the planet, and the automotive industry jumped right on as soon as they heard.
