Da Vinci Driving Simulator

Driving simulators always come at a premium for hardcore gamers who are crazy about racing games. However, not all driving simulators are designed to give gamers their daily dose of adrenaline. Take for example the Da Vinci driving simulator, which looks like it could be used for teaching driving skills, rather than letting you enjoy racing games.

The Da Vinci rig comes from Mirage IIID and it’s not really a car, since it lacks wheels and airbags, but it adds flexibility and maintainability due to its modular design.Mirage IIID claims that years of research have led to the exceptional accurate Force Feedback of the clutch, break, and accelerator pedals, and gear box. Many system integrators have already chosen to incorporate the Da Vinci Rig into their driving simulator projects, due to its quality feel, design, and modularity.

As previously stated, all redundant parts like wheels, airbags, crash safety and the like are omitted. Instead the design includes many new features necessary for a simulator environment or large volume production:

- The modern timeless design will ensure a lasting investment. (It will not age, as with a real vehicle)
- It can be disassembled to fit through a normal door.
- Steering and pedals can be fitted for a left or right hand drive.
- all items are modular and can be removed easily (pedals, stick shift). This makes field service almost not necessary.
- The design allows production to be easy, quick and affordable.
- A special purpose computer – the 'Smart Box' – is used to control the gages and the pedals instead of a PC. (reliability is much higher)
- A high quality 5 channel Dolby digital 5.1 surround, or 2.1 system is installed, for engine and instruction sound effects.
- The Da Vinci Rig allows any chosen visual screen setup to be used, whether it is a curved projection screen, plasma displays or flatscreen projection, or even an additional back-screen projection for rear view mirrors.
