Customizable Car Dashboard

I guess many of you have heard of Futuremark. Yes, that company that provides computer gamers with neat benchmarks for their rigs and graphics cards. They are also developing games and as of lately, the California-based company is collaborating with Audi to develop and produce a new type of car dashboard that combines GPS functions with an HUD system. The whole idea is to build a fully customizable dashboard that would looks something like this:

According to Inventorspot, all those signs and gages you’d see you would normally see on a car’s dashboard, can be displayed on the new HUD system. You can choose whatever functions you’d like to be displayed, you can hide all of them or you can just keep things simple by displaying only the tachometer and a speedometer. You can even choose among several color schemes, with the added bonus of specifying whether you like a dark on light scheme or light on dark one. Futuremark specifically designed some impressive graphics that would serve as background animation for the HUD.

The system was presented at NVISION a couple of weeks ago and those who attended the event were pretty impressed. Audi is willing to integrate the new dashboard into their SUV lineup at first, as soon as all the tests are completed.
