<p>Forums are web sites where people talk about different topics or things they have in common. Usually these forums are organized according to a specific point of interest of all the people who take part in the conversation. There are specialized forums where people talk about food, sports, technology, children, education, aliens and a lot of other topics. The word “forum” comes from the ancient Latin word that described the central area of Rome, where the Romans had their most important institutions and where they gathered to talk about the public affairs and politics.

<p>If you are interested in all kinds of gadgets, you can become a member of a <strong>gadget forum</strong> where you can discuss about your passion with people from all over the world who share your hobby and interest. But the problem is that the word “gadget” covers a very large variety of meanings, starting from the unusual revolutionary devices used by Inspector gadget in the cartoon series or the movie with the same title, the spy gadgets used by James Bond in the James Bond series where an apparently harmless object turned into a deadly weapon and finishing with all the software gadgets and sidebar gadgets that are used by computer users from all over the world.

Of course you must be patient as it may take some time until somebody actually enters that particular page of the forum containing your question and know the answer at the same time. These forums are not like live instant messaging services, but web pages. If you want to be notified about the eventual posts after you have posted a question on a certain forum or you are particularly interested in a thread opened on a forum, you can choose to subscribe to that thread and you will receive an email message if somebody else posts something after that.
I personally used such a forum to find out how to lock the Vista gadgets on my desktop because they were constantly moved by my kids. I found a lot of answers, better or worse, but I chose the one I thought it sounded better and looked more pertinent and I checked if it worked. Apparently it did. You can post a question on these forums either as a visitor or as a member. However, most of the forums do not allow you to post anything unless a member of the forum community. When you are a member you can choose to use your real photo or use an avatar.

Time passes by incredibly fast these days and it seems like the days got shorter and shorter.
