I’m sure that you all know about Skype, a software that allows users to make telephone calls over the Internet. The great thing about it is the fact that calls to other users of the service and to free-of-charge numbers are free, which helps people to save great amounts of money; calls to other landlines and mobile phones can be made for a fee and there are some other additional features that include instant messaging, file transfer and video conferencing.

Designer Eno Setiawan has created a unique design for a Skype phone that is simply known as the hanger phone, because the device works like the phones that hang on the wall. This is a cool futuristic concept that will steal all the charm with its neat innovative form factor. The phone has a pretty simple functioning mechanism. Actually, the design is so simple that the user can make a phone call by only picking it up and then hanging up when finished. It’s nothing original so far, but the materials are. The hanger phone is equipped with all modern features and is finished with aluminum plate, polycarbonate and polyurethane.

Apart from the dialing number on the computer screen, the Hanger Phone can also be used for call, by using tags. All you have to do is press the loudspeaker button for 3 seconds and press call to do the calling.

The hanger phone dock uses a Bluetooth connection to transmit audio from the phone to the computer and it looks like the dock itself connects to the PC using USB, receiving all the messages through Bluetooth connected to the dock. The phone dock is probably powered by the USB and there’s a battery indicator on the phone that indicates when it is charged; the messages shown are “full”, “low” or “need to charge”. Besides this battery indicator and the few buttons that any electronic device should have, the specs list is a mystery for the Hanger Skype Phone.

Right now, this is just a concept, but if we take into consideration the popularity of Skype, it might not take too long before it hits the market.

As I’ve repeatedly said it before, there is an endless row of Apple iPhone and Apple iPod gadgets on the market, as traders have taken advantage of the trend it was created in the past several years. Another newcomer, a very fresh and enthusiastic challenger, is a new headphone set from Coosh, which is trying to get your attention.
The first and maybe the most important thing you should know about this headphones is that they are a bargain, but just in the case you are not after some very exclusive device to work with your iPhone or iPod. Coosh is as simple as that and for the price it is asked for presents a pretty good quality to price ratio.
Coosh headset is undoubtedly coming from a teenager’s world. Stylish and comfortable, it was made primarily to be as less disturbing as possible, which means it stays on and feels good. The ear hoops used on the Coosh headset are made of a soft and flexible silicone material, offering comfortable wear over extended periods and don’t interfere with sunglasses if you are wearing them outside. This way, the hoops will keep the headset in place no matter how active you are, thing that is not available for some headphones. There are not many other reasonably priced headphones that will include both characteristics.
The hoops are removable if you don’t want them on. There are three color choices available for the hoops and all are made of the same material; the colors you can choose from are white, black and pink.
On the cable near the wearer’s mouth it a microphone with a button which helps you answer calls and mute the audio playback. So this gadget won’t let you turn off music or radio to answer an incoming call. When you press the button, it does what it takes automatically. To avoid a sudden and occasional unplugging, it was designed a special right-angle lodging. The cable is 1.2 meters long and features two jacks: 2.5 mm or 3.5 mm.
As far as the technical information is concerned, it refers to a mid range one. Nevertheless, the Coosh set has more in it than you normally get for this price. The impedance is 34 Ohms, while the response frequency varies from 20 Hz to 65 Hz. The headset is equipped with a magnet made of neodymium. All of these features bring the user up to 10mW input power and heavy 125 dB output. From bass to tremble, these cheap headsets ensure nice, deep, good quality sound, which is quite impressive for a device that retails for only $19.99.

E-Ink is the new trend when it comes to concept devices and this brand new Anthony Reed phone is the living proof. But for all of you out there who miss like hell colors, you might be happy to find out that full color E-ink has recently been demonstrated, so we’ll surely see handsets based on this technology soon enough.
Electronic Ink is a proprietary material that is processed into a film for integration into electronic displays. This is a revolutionary, as far as the concept is concerned, and is a straightforward fusion of chemistry, physics and electronics to create this new material. The electronic ink consists of millions of tiny microcapsules, about the diameter of a human hair. In one incarnation, each microcapsule contains positively charged white particles and negatively charged black particles suspended in a clear fluid. In the specific moment when a negative electric field is applied, the white particles move to the top of the microcapsule where they become visible the user. This way, the surface appears white at the spot. The same thing happens when an opposite electric field pulls the black particles to the bottom of the microcapsules where they are hidden. The process can be reversed, so that the black particles appear at the top of the capsule, which now makes the surface appear dark at that spot.

In order to form an E Ink electronic display, the ink is printed onto a sheet of plastic film that is laminated to a layer of circuitry which forms a pattern of pixels that can then be controlled by a display driver. These microcapsules are suspended in a liquid “carrier medium” allowing them to be printed using existing screen printing processes onto virtually any surface, including glass, plastic, fabric and even paper. Ultimately, electronic ink will allow almost any surface to become a display, bringing information out of the confines of traditional devices and into the world around us.
Despite their lamentable lack of color range, E-ink mobiles are just all the rage these days. The main draw of this E-Ink concept phone is undoubtedly the design and unusual color, because as far as the features are concerned, they are nowhere to be found.
The phone enjoys a very simple grid styling that keeps everything intact within the gray scale range of the display. If you are really into black and white, then this E-Ink phone is sure enough to make a good impression on you. The shiny exterior of the phone is a delight to the eyes. Moreover, the phone seems to have its own charging station.

You must have heard about countries where there is a law that says that all cell phone calls made in car must be handsfree. The reason is obvious, if you ask me: this is meant to prevent accidents caused by inattentive drivers who are using the phone when they shouldn’t. However, there are still many drivers with cell phones pressed to their ears in blatant violation of this law. Studies have shown that even with a hands-free unit, the added distraction to the driver and the increase in accident rates are almost as substantial as when driving and talking on a normal mobile phone.
Maybe these drivers need an Ego Flash, a device that has nothing to do with motivational talk in any way, but it’s an advanced Bluetooth handsfree device for automobile with some very cool extra features. It’s like someone wrote down all those things you could add into a Bluetooth handsfree unit and just kicked them all off. Combined with a multimedia technology, a brilliant high definition OLED display, this car kit becomes the leader in its class.
The Ego Flash has two parts, the brains of the outfit which can be hidden anywhere in the car and the discrete control panel with its 1.6-inch OLED display and a handful of buttons. The two parts are wired together via your car stereo which is used to provide audio output, so installing it probably needs some professional touch. This display has caller ID, controls the phone, it can hang up and even do redials. It can also do text messaging and it will even read them aloud. You can control your phone and instruct it to dial numbers all completely handsfree and with no machine training required. In addition, the device can even hold 10,000 entries from your phone’s contact list, so it’s great if you aren’t the geek kind of guy and you know lots of people.
Ego Flash is music friendly as the car kit even includes a 3.5 mm stereo input jack for MP3 / iPhone music input, so it will play back music files stored on your devices. On the other hand, there’s a possibility for you to enjoy the ultimate experience, as Ego Flash also features noise cancelling microphone which combines with DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology for noise and echo cancellation.
The automatic reconnect feature means that Ego Flash reconnects with the last cell phone it was functioning with, making hands free truly hands free. You can pair it up with then different phones, and it can accept A2DP stereo Bluetooth streaming and AVRCP remote control.
If you’re not very much into English, don’t worry, this thing is multilingual, as English, Spanish and French are user selectable languages. En consecuencia, if you’re interested in Bluetooth handsfree devices, allez-y! You can find it on Amazon for an amount of $206.95.

It’s been a while since I’ve written my last article on a diamond-encrusted device, maybe because I got tired with all of those expensive products that regular people wouldn’t be able to buy not even in a couple of lifetimes. Though it might have come as a surprise for some people, along with the Apple iPhone and iPod has been released a wide range of accessories and other products to pair with your device, leaving us with lots of merchandises to sort through and evaluate.
This is the reason our eyes reached the point where they’re forced to see something like this: diamond-encrusted iPod earphone covers. Yes, you read this right, they’re some kind of precious covers. Actually, precious might not be the word, just because it’s not enough in order to express the astonishing price of $60,000. Ok, I agree, if you want some diamonds clipping onto your standard pair of iPod earphones, you should be open-handed, because this stones are known to be very expensive, but come on! $60,000?!
Industry veteran Steven Goldstein, the co-founder of Goldkenn and one of the great confectionery successes in duty free, is making his return to the sector with New-York based luxury accessories brand DEOS. Founded by jewellery designer Allison Lee Zeiss, DEOS offers interchangeable diamond- and crystal-encrusted earphone covers for the Apple iPod and iPhone.

DEOS earphones come in three collections – DEOS Diamond, CVRZ with Swarovski crystals and the CVRZ aluminum range – each targeting a particular price segment. If you run on a virtually unlimited bank account, then you should go after the diamond-studded earphones, made of titanium and encrusted with colored diamonds, yellow, pink and black. Each piece is handcrafted and hand-set – at a price. “With the titanium and diamond collection, the sky is the limit for people who are discerning and have the means to spend. The pieces are unique, the colors of the stones are perfect and wearing those earphones is definitely not for everyone. Yet they are not over flashy and show both good taste and wealth of the wearer”, Goldstein said.
The CVRZ crystal earphones are covered with hand-selected Swarovski crystal in a myriad of colors and it’s retailed at about $110 for the half-covered to $200 for the fully-covered line. As far as the CVRZ plain colored aluminum earphones, targeting “students and younger people who also want to make a fashion statement”, but don’t have the means in order to purchase the higher-end ranges, they are available for $20. One can choose between red, blue, green, yellow and orange.
Goldstein said that “today there are more than 152 million earphones in the world. It’s a marvelous way of making a fashion statement. When you meet someone, the person sees first your face and then looks at your ears. The range of earphone covers is perfect for all types of customers as Allison has made products for all price levels”. True, but in the context of these economic hard times, some down-to-earth prices for, well, down-to-earth devices would be just what the doctor ordered.
