Worlds Coolest Tatoos

Thursday, April 15th, 2010 |

When it comes to tattoos, people have different opinions, reactions, but most of them agree that it is one of the oldest forms of art existing, also been called the art of the body. Many people worldwide agree on making themselves a tattoo at a certain point of their life, in order to celebrate some essential/ key moments in their existence; also, if you watch specialized Tv shows like the best known Miami Ink (followed also by New York Ink, LA Ink), you will soon realize that the most of the stories behind the tattoos are relevant for the beholders’. Some use to tattoo themselves for certain reasons like fighting and winning again a disease, or to celebrate an important moment of their existence (such as wedding, the birth of a new family member), some chose tattoos to show their love or faith in Divinity, and there are some others that just do it for fun reasons.<-300×250 Medium Rectangle – center->Either way, in my opinion tattooing is a very personal and profound meaning and the tattoo one gets should really have a meaning and not only the one of pure fashion, or because other cool kids did it before me. Also, choosing the place on your body that fits best the tattoo you want to have is a very important deal; always remember that tattoos are mostly for the entire life, so if you do want to have a career like a police officer, doctor or even a business person, tattoos on revealing parts of the body are to be avoided.

But due to newer techniques, the tattooing art benefits now from numerous ways and inks that can be used for the body painting, so that it appeals to everybody that wants to get a tattoo. Due to this innovations, there are now special available inks that only glow in the dark or at the light of a neon and are fully invisible at the day light, which can be appealing to teenagers who want to get a tattoo but are afraid of what parents or teachers might say, or even for those of you that are not fully comfortable with their tattoos showing off, but still want to get one. Also, a viable option are the semi-permanent tattoos that can stay up to 5 years on your body, are not harmful at all and are also more bearable in terms of pain when having them. All in all, never forget to appeal to a specialized center when getting a tattoo and always be careful at the hygiene; nevertheless, tattoos can be addictive and most of the persons that already have one claim that they would have a second also, and then another…

Here are some of the world’s coolest tattoos and their owners:

The conclusions are the following:
1st place:
A couple of New Jersey hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn’t seem to be breathing, his eyes are rolled back in his head. The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: “My friend is dead! What can I do?

The operator, in a calm soothing voice says: “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.” There is a silence, then a shot is heard.
The guy’s voice comes back on the line. He says: “OK, now what?
Top Joke in Canada:
When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ballpoint pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300C.
The Russians used a pencil.
Top Joke in Belgium:
Why do ducks have webbed feet?
To stamp out the fires.
Why do elephants have flat feet?
To stamp out burning ducks.

And, as one of my favorites:
A turtle was walking down an alley when he was mugged by a gang of snails. A police detective came to investigate and asked the turtle if he could explain what happened.
The turtle looked at the detective with a confused look on his face and replied “I don’t know, it all happened so fast.”
And because I was teasing you earlier with the Chuck Norris jokes, here is the one I find the most amusing of them all: “Chuck Norris counted to infinity. Twice”

Coolest Small Town In America

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010 |

With over 18000 towns and cities in the whole country and more than roughly 309 million people, 2 different coasts and a time zone fluctuating for hours depending on the zone, America is one of the world’s biggest countries. As some used to say, sometimes it’s easier and with less spent time to travel from US to Europe than from one coast to another within America. Also, the United States has a very wide territory with population scattered almost on every zone.

<-300×250 Medium Rectangle – center->

Still, America is confronting to what may not seem as a problem because their culture, but which is still a very delicate issue worldwide: the urbanize level. Here you can find both cities that outcome sometimes countries on surfaces and population (such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles), as well as small counties, villages and town with a population fiew over 1000 souls. But even with such situations, most of the people that live in small town are proud of themselves and the life they have there, considering that moving to “the big city” will destroy their moral values and make them confront with civilization’s problems.

Most of the smaller towns in America have borrowed their names either from Europe (such as New York, which is not small at all, but got its name from the less popular York in the UK, or Atena -as in the capital of Greece), either people named that town after a certain material found in the area etc. During the past years, “city people” have become more interested in traveling across the country and finding a more relaxing habitation, far from all the noises and pollution, but still close enough to home and with a similar culture. That is why, the rural tourism developed majorly, increasing in the same time the quality of services offered in smaller communities, besides the warm welcoming and the already-known pies given as a gift for new neighbors or tourists.

In 2009, the Budget Travel Magazine organized a contest about the coolest small towns in America; having more than 100,000 of answers from residents of small towns, the Magazine made a top based on fans’ reviews but not only. In order, the top ten in the poll were:
1) Owego, N.Y. (NOT Oswego, N.Y.)
2) Rockland, Maine
3) Grinnell, Iowa
4) Vevay, Ind.
5) Huntingdon, Pa.
6) Onancock, Va.
7) Jim Thorpe, Pa.
8) Mineral Point, Wis.
9) Silverton, Ore.
10) Port Royal, S.C.

Some details about the winner, as seen on cbsnews.com : “The scene in Owego looks like it’s straight off a postcard: mix of quaint streets, local pride. [...] This is the kind of place where people don’t lock their doors; it’s authentic America. The former county jail has been transformed into a restaurant where you can have a pulled pork sandwich in what used to be a cell-block.” Worths giving it a try, right?

What Is The Coolest Accent

Monday, April 12th, 2010 |

Every region across the globe is unique, thank God. And in every unique region live unique people with different habits, hobbies and lifestyles. For example, if you go to New York, Los Angeles or Miami, you know that those cities never sleep so it is pretty common to stay up till the morning, go to clubs, dance till exhaustion and then go to the beach and watch the sunrise. Also, this thing is pretty common on the European side, if you go to the island that never sleeps, Ibiza, or enjoy a wonderful vacation in a Greek resort on a sun-kissed island. And viceversa, there are also places where people actually sleep in the night or at least don’ go out with nozy crouds to party all night long.

<-300×250 Medium Rectangle – center->

And because each of is unique, each of us has a certain accent too that is proud or less proud of. Still, even though it is impossible for a person to not have an accent at all, often people mock each others regarding this particular theme: accents. Sure, it is pretty funny to hear people all around the world speaking differently and then mock them or, worse, to get mocked on this thing. Yet, there are some particular accents that everybody seems to mock and people that have them tend to feel uncomfortable with themselves or even get mad. Still, it’s the way they talk, the way they talked all their lives and each of us should be proud about the place we come from.

Being the most known and spoken language all over the world, English language suffered many accent changes during the centuries, so that many established colonies borrowed the initial British accent but mixed it in time with their local accents and dialects. So, it comes as no surprise for anybody that Britains have different accents from Irish people or Scottish ones, or that no ordinary human could actually understand what an Australian says. All in all, every accent is both funny and serious, depending on the side you are viewing the problem.

As for the coolest accents one could have, well…depends on the area. If you are outside England, you will probably found cool or rather annoying the British accent, but on top of the list,  I reckon that Irish people rock. And yet, who can be funnier than our beloved Indian people when they try to speak in English? I personally cannot abstain from bursting into laugh whenever I hear an Indian speaking (no offense, you are all funny by nature). Also, Russian or Spanish people that are trying to speak in English might get mocked often but there is no other nation in the world that murder the accurate English language like Australian people do. Again, no offense, ‘aight mate?
