The coolest logos are the ones that stay in our minds, the ones that can say a lot of the company which they present and those that survive the time passing.
<-300×250 Medium Rectangle – center->
The logo has origins and roots in several modes of meaning and representation, of which we can include: Herald signs (seal, emblem), anthropological (mask), legal (signature) and art (portrait).
It is estimated that a person who lives into an urban area is exposed daily to about 1200 logos. They are found on the products packaging, advertising posters or buildings (banners or billboards). This expansion or invasion of logos is part of the human tendency to be surrounded by images, symbols or myths.
The first part of the logo is to ensure recognition of the organization ii represent by a diverse audience. The logo could be called the identity card of the organization.
Far from being reduced to a simple sign, the logo should be rather considered as a true system of identification and meaning, as a set of interdependent elements. It is easier to remember visual images than words. Thus, the symbols of the marks should help them win market recognition.
The logo does not just represent an organization or a brand, is a sign of identity.
“Symbols combine intelligence, imagination, emotion …” Georgetown University Identity Standards Manual
To understand the logo better you should know a way to classify the logos, one logo classification is given by Alina Wheeler in “Designing brand identity” and so we have:
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â wordmarks – it is a given name and itself can be company name. Consist of legible words written in a separate fund that can integrate abstract and pictorial elements.
Distinctive feature of the Dell logo is given by the inclined “E” to reinforce the visual logo style.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Letter-form marks – a single letter as the logo is often used by designers because it is a graphic sign very easy to obtain and very effective. The letter has always an unique look and translates for the customer a certain personality of the brand it represents.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Pictorial marks – they used an image that can refer to the company, the image may be only symbolic or can refer to the known characteristics of the product. For example: the Post American eagle is a symbol of America but also a symbol of independence and speed.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Abstract marks – they use visual forms to represent an idea or an attribute of the product or service. By their nature they give a strategic ambiguity and they can be used for a wide range of companies. Abstract logos are used primarily for service companies or technological ones and are very difficult to create.
-        Emblems  are these logos have in addition to the pictorial elements, the company name or organization. These items are never isolated and you will see them as a whole. For example the Vodafone logo.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Characters – these are used primarily to focus on product brands and the certain values or characteristics of the product. The best ones can become cultural emblem retained over time. The “rubber” man from Michelin, the goddess of the Columbia Pictures and the Linux penguin are some of mascot logos encountered.
Logo Nike, also called swoosh, it is actually a wing of the the Greek goddess named Nike. She was the goddess of Victory, one of the wives of Zeus, king of Olympus, who watch over the warriors when they went into battle. This inspired the most courageous people to fight honestly and correctly, according to legend, when a warrior was going to the battle, he said: “When we go to fight and we win, we say Nike” and today Nike is the symbol of competitions carried out correctly.
Founded in 1968 by Philip H. Knight and Bill Bowerman, Nike Company has become very quickly well-known on the market, so that in the late 70’s the company had reached a figure of 270 million dollars.
The famous Nike logo was created by Caroline Davidson in 1971, a close friend of Knight, and for the logo she received $ 35.
This tells us that cool and well known logos can be created with very little money, but with lot of inspiration.
The Adidas Company, the German manufacturer of textiles and footwear, was named after the founder Adolf (Adi) Dassler, who started making shoes in 1920 in Herzogenaurach, near Nuremberg, with his brother, Rudolf Dassler.

Created by founder Adi Dassler, the sign was used for the first time in 1949 as a design logo for shoes. Dassler intended to create a symbol that can be easily recognized in sporting competitions in which Adidas shoes appeared. Then the three lines have first appeared in 1967 on clothing and the logo is easily recognized today.
Apple Inc. has founded in 1976 and since then, the company revolutionized personal computing. It was founded by Ronald Wayne, Steve Wozniak, and Steve Jobs. Apple Computer has been introduced over the years very developed accessories and products with very developed technologies. The company has become one of the world’s most famous computer brands with innovative products such as QuickTim iPods, Macintosh computers and iPhones.
The best brand identities are memorable, authentic, varied, flexible and add a certain amount of value to the product, so it can be recognition very quickly and can pass over cultural or geographical barriers.
The Wild Center is the Natural History Museum of Adirondacks. It is a non-profit organization situated on a 31-acre campus in Tupper Lake, New York. The symbol of the Wild Center mirrors an aerial view of the museum’s location and the color of the symbol is changing with the seasons.
“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” Alan Key. This means if you want your company to be well known on the market, to have good sales and to be on the lips of every customer you have to start with the beginning, and the beginning is the logo because this is the first thing consumers see when they look at your company
and it is the element which can say a lot of good or bad things about company. The idea of a cool logo creation is that the logo can send your company to a growth and success position on the market.

AlterG, the producer company of Anti-Gravity Treadmill, the revolutionary technology for athletic training and rehabilitation launched today the AlterG M300 product. M300 uses the same anti-gravity technology developed at NASA, which can be found in the P200 series too, but at a third of the price and packed in a new design. M300 brings the revolutionary technology closer to millions of people who are trying to rehabilitate more easily from surgery or injury or they just want to train smarter. The best thing about this product is that the efficiency/price is very good. This new product is basically an improved P200, and main differences are that M300 is optimized in form, function and price for therapy in clinics, trainings and fitness facilities.
<-300×250 Medium Rectangle – center->
“Our AlterG P200 can bear the weight of pro football players, move at the speed of Olympic runners and accommodate the specific requirements of world-class teams and athletes” said Lars Barfood, the CEO of AlterG. “The new M300 is designed to take all the benefits of our existing anti-gravity treadmill and make it more affordable and manageable for physical therapy clinics, fitness and training facilities and individuals. AlterG removes the obstacles associated with training and physical rehabilitation – impact on the body and the pain and difficulty of recovery – and helps even more people achieve their training and rehab goals.
This recovery machine is great both for weekend warriors recovering from surgery and for hardcore athletes training through an injury. This product allows people to run and walk at a fraction of their body weight, it applies a precise and a comfortable force to lift the body, and people can move naturally and pain free. Reducing body weight lowers the impact on joints and muscles to provide a smooth recovery from injury or from surgery. AlterG M300 is also good for improving training and performance.
AlterG is easy to use, and it has simple differences from a traditional treadmill. First of all, the user steps onto the treadmill, raises the enclosure and zips into the chamber. The controls are pretty the same with traditional treadmills’ controls, beginning with the body weight measuring tool and with the pressure measuring tool. The body weight can be modified and actually reduced up to 60%, and the pressure on joints is much better and allows people to train better.
The speed and the incline also can be modified, and this also modifies the intensity of the exercise. In addition to the standard features, you will get support from the inflated air chamber. This way, the exercise will be more effective, and you body will recover faster.Originally, this product has been designed for athletes and professional sports teams, but nowadays anyone can benefit from this revolutionary product. So anyone looking to train or to smart rehab should get a M300. The company is working on improving the quality/price ratio, but taking into account that the technology used in this product is quite new, you should understand the price tag.
AlterG is pre-selling the M300 model, and the product will be shipped starting with November 2009. The product begins at $24,500 and here are some information about model’s varieties.
With the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill you get all the gain, without the pain. AlterG optimizes rehab and training by minimizing the impact of running and walking on a person’s body.
For athletes – training is injury free and rehab is faster
For patients with lower body injury – faster recovery and smoother return to full functionality
For patients with neurological disorders – helps to maintain, and even regain, functionality and mobility
For weight loss – motivates users by simulating weight loss, protects joints from stress
AlterG has been reinventing rehabilitation and athletic training with its NASA developed, anti-gravity technology since 2005. Alberto Salazar, famed marathon runner and director of the Nike Oregon Project, was instrumental in working with AlterG to provide feedback on the prototype. His athletes began testing AlterG prototypes in 2006. Additional early testers include the Golden State Warriors and Oakland Raider franchises. In 2007, AlterG went to market with the first commercially available Anti-Gravity Treadmill.

In the last few years the autonomy of our mobile phones and even gadget phones decreased rather than grew. This is not a great progress for our technology. Many mobile phones need to be recharged after just one day usage. What could be the problem? The answer is quite simple: our mobile phones have more functions these days. Every new application on our mobile phone induces greater battery consumption. Let’s turn our attention to the GPS. Every new high-end phone has one. But then again everyone likes more functions on their mobile phones and once these functions have been integrated, then is no turning back. We call it technological evolution. This days mobile phones are not just about calling or texting, but also about music or surfing the web. However all these functions withdraw energy from the accumulator of our mobile phone.
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
Still, the autonomy of a certain model depends on the way the phone is used. The same device can ‘survive’ only one day on an intensive usage, but also a whole week before it well need charging (on a low usage).
One of the most important reasons the autonomy period of our mobile phones is low is the accumulator power (or capacity). The power of the Li-Ion and Li-Polimer accumulators grew year by year (on a constant level). A cylindrical notebook accumulator with an 18 mm diameter and length of 65 mm could stock 1200 mAh. Nowadays this value was increased to 2600 mAh. The next five years will not bring any change in the accumulator land. Our mobile phones will still have lithium accumulators. Their big advantage, besides the bigger power storage (compared to the Nichel Cadmium), is that they don’t present the Memory effect. The Memory effect will not allow you to recharge your mobile phone until its battery is completely empty. The lithium accumulators are more expensive to produce then the Nichel Cadmium ones. Therefore is you want to buy an extra accumulator you will pay quite much. The power of the accumulator is constantly attacked by numerous consumers, like the broadcasting chip. The small CPU’s from our mobile phones use little power (it actually lowered its consumption from 5 to 1.3 volt). With every new technological progress the consumption of power decreases. The difficult moment is occurring right now. The processing frequency is around 500 MHz, but in two years they will grow to about 2 GHz. This will surely affect the chip power consumption but a better frequency is mandatory because of the high data flux.
One of the most ‘starving’ applications on our mobile phone is actually the calling function. The consumption depends on the network you use. In the GSM networks you can speak twice as much than in the UMTS network. You can save some power is you switch from the UMTS to the GSM when you don’t need video calling or high speed connectivity.
For many applications, the actual use of power is owed to the phone display. Let’s take example the browser. The application is not that big but the display is on during the entire navigation (this leads to a high use of power). The standby period with the display on is slightly lower than the calling period – because the display is not on during a call. This is one of the reasons the manufactures are preoccupied to diminish the period of time while the display is on when the phone is not used and to turn itself off while an outgoing call.
Another application that devours the power of the accumulator is the music player. It’s a little less consuming than the other but don’t let yourself fooled, it will empty your accumulator in 24 hours. If you listen to music from your mobile phone by using a Bluetooth stereo handset or Bluetooth speakers then the mobile consumes more power.
Watching movies on your mobile phone is the latest direction right now. However this application will drain your accumulator dry in a few hours (2 – 5 hours, if you are lucky).
You can use the WLAN to surf on web rather than the UMTS. The WLAN will save energy.
Be careful with the GPS. It’s very consuming because it uses simultaneously the display and the Internet connection. The autonomy of your mobile phone will decrease ( with your GPS on ) to about 2 hours.
We all want a single device that can do everything, but the reality is different than what we want. The more you use a single device for all your needs; there are more chances that it will crash and burn. So you like music and movies on the go, buy an iPod or other player, you need GPS, buy an actual GPS and not at least do buy a good phone that doesn’t need daily charge.
