What’s the first thought to cross your mind when someone tells you about a company called Green House? Maybe you’d imagine that there’s a connection between that certain company and its purposes, on one hand, and the environmentalist trend, on the other hand. Because you already know that nowadays when something is green, this it most certainly is eco-friendly.

Anyway, the point is the company has just released a brand new series consisting of small MP3 players, called Kana Micro. At first glance, the devices leave the impression that they are anything but MP3 players. USB flash drives, maybe. But the truth is that these cute little gadgets were made for you to listen to music.
One of the main advantages of the small MP3 players is precisely the portability, requiring very little space due to their dimensions. They provide up to two hours of playback time, when the battery gets depleted and must be recharged via your USB drive.

When it comes to the internal memory, the players are equipped with 2GB, which might not be enough for music lovers who are always in search for novelties. The only problem is that the 2GB aren’t integrated in the form of the internal memory you all know very well. They have to come from a microSD card that isn’t included in the package. Pretty disappointing, I agree.
Unfortunately, if you are already madly in love with these small MP3 players, I’ll have to give you one last bad news. The Kana Micro are currently available in Japan in a wide variety of colors, such as white (clear), pink, purple, orange, yellow, blue and green. Not to mention the fact they’re so very cheap: approximately $16. Sorry, but the players can’t be yours, unless you’re from Japan. I think I’ve already mentioned it!

When it comes to futuristic concepts of all sorts, people tend to become a little bit skeptical, even if they are fully aware of the fact that almost everything is possible in the era of ground-breaking technologies. It seems that all the ideas that cross people’s mind are to become reality, regardless of the general restraint of the society.

Maybe designers are entitled to believe that everything is possible, as I said earlier, because they possess the means for something like this to happen. And the most important of them all is undoubtedly based on knowledge and information.

This is why Mac Funamizu, a Tokyo-based designer, well known for his futuristic concepts, such as the Lupa and the double layered transparent screen, wouldn’t think the following concept device to be the craziest thing on earth. Not only because we’re talking about his creation and he should be the first to believe in his work, but also because he knows that in the near future people will have the chance to use such devices.

This is way too… futuristic, if you ask me, and it would take years for it to materialize. Not to mention the fact that the human mind will most certainly need some time in order to get accustomed to this new design. So, if you’re the type of person who thinks that all is not gold that glitters, then maybe you should at least give this concept some credit, because it might be amusing to see the future shape of the things that people use in the present on a regular basis.

This is a transparent music player that you can wear wrapped around your wrist, just like a regular watch, but if you get bored easily, you can always change the colors/patterns and display your favorite photography. In addition, the player can be connected to earphones that are designed to change “your ears into a concert hallâ€. Oh, and did I tell you about the integrated microphone that is able to detect your voice and humming and searches the song you want to listen to and about the built-in sensor which is able to detect your heartbeat?

Ok, maybe it’s too much, but come on! Doesn’t this transparent music player look fantastic?

When you are a young designer that is about to finish school, the only thing you can think of is how in earth you’ll be finding the most unbelievable idea for your graduation project, one you can amaze people with. Not to mention the fact that you’d like for it to become something like your future visiting card, converting itself in the most important work of art of your portofolio.

That’s precisely what happened when Tommy Chen, a Shanghai-based industrial designer reached the moment when he had to say goodbye to his studies and to prepare something in order to successfully finish the Design School of the Southern Yangtze University. When seeing this designer’s exquisite device, you don’t actually know from the first moment what it represents. You’re confused, right? You don’t know whether it’s something it can be used for a specific purpose or it’s just a piece of decoration.

The point is that Tommy Chen has come up with a unique device that combines a wide variety of functionalities, such as an iPod dock, a mobile phone dock, a CD player and an amplifier. When docking all of these independent components together, the result is the unusual disc shape that you can see in the pictures. The YOGA (because this is the name of this concept) is a device with rounded edges that is suitable to those who have strong personalities, oriented to modernity, being perfect for almost any kind of futuristic décor that one can imagine.

Inspired by the raindrops that are falling to the ground, this is the living proof of the fact that brilliant graduation project ideas are at the tip of your finger when you spare no effort in order to succeed!

Thinking about the way I react when it comes to the music that I am listening to, I must say that I am nothing but so very pretentious, with frequent tendencies of overreacting if someone dares to disorganize, for example, my Winamp playlist. It’s not because I suffer from the obsessive-compulsive syndrome, not a bit of it, but I truly believe that music is a matter of personal taste that must not be corrupted by external factors.

Nevertheless, I am conscious about the fact that music isn’t very important to everyone of us, and there are many people who don’t give a damn on what they listen to on a regular basis, as long as it’s music. If you’re this type of person, then the Sansa slotRadio must have been designed for you and for you only, as it comes with 1,000 preloaded songs. So you don’t need to be a connoisseur as far as the music is concerned, the only thing you should do is to express a certain interest in listening to all sorts of sounds.
If you’re a casual music consumer that never troubles his head about music genres, songs or artists, then this tiny stylish device is perfect for you. More than that, the 1,000 songs were carefully selected from Billboard charts. As far as the features are concerned, the Sandisk Sansa slotRadio includes a 1.5 inch OLED screen that shows information like artist and song and a built-in FM radio.

The device retails for $99.99, a price that includes the 1,000 song card, but if you are the type of person that gets bored easily, there are additional music cards from a wide variety of music genres. They come with other 1,000 songs and can be purchased for $39.99 each (this is the manufacturer’s suggested retail price).
The Sansa slotRadio is expected to start selling out at the official website of Sandisk Sansa and at approximately 4,400 RadioShack stores in the first months of 2009.

As I became Christmas spirited for some time now, I really am in the mood for Christmas songs. Therefore, all you can hear between these four walls is something like “Jingle Bells†or “Silent night†and my voice screaming out loud the happiness this time of the year brings to my soul.
Music is what makes us forget the troubles and sorrows in our lives, helping us face anything with the smile on our faces. But don’t you just hate those moments when you listen to a song that you love but you can remember neither the song nor the artist? I, for one, can’t stand the fact that my memory is sometimes playing games, messing up my brain when it least needs it.
If, on the other hand, you’re not a specialist when it comes to recognizing band names, the iDesign SongView is the perfect device for you. As you can see in the picture above, this gadget is equipped with a huge scrolling LED display (1.3 inch) which is designed to show a message, including the song name, the artist, the album, as well as the genre. This message rotates around the base whenever you’re listening to songs from your iPod. The best part about the LED display is that you can see what is written on it from a considerable distance.
This means you will never have to run to your device in order to find out who plays this song that you love so, but you can’t remember. In addition, the iDesign SongView is an alarm clock that will help you get up in those mornings when you’d rather stay in bed and lazing as much as you like. Not to mention that the SongView is provided with a remote control that allows you to control the volume or to skip all the songs that you don’t want to listen to in a certain moment. The device is compatible with additional speakers and different types of audio players.
If you want to help your brain relax for a bit, giving it the chance to forget all sorts of songs, you can always go grab the iDesign SongView for $99. Be sure it will give you all the information you need.
