It is not that difficult these days because now you have access to huge data bases with names from all over the world – all in a matter of second – thanks to the internet connectivity. I did this search myself and I found thousands of interesting and cool Italian first and last names and they all sounded very well – you know that Italian language is very melodic and sounds really nice when you hear it. So if you are just a bit curious you can read all these names that appear in all sorts of tops and categories if you follow these links: www.about.com, www.ebaumsworld.com, www.italianames.com, www.answers.yahoo.com, www.facebook.com, www.angelfire.com (here you will find out more interesting things like the origin of the names, the way they were formed in the beginning and the geographical areas where they are spread), www.wiki.answers.com and many others.

But if you do not have the necessary patience to follow the links, I will list here some of the coolest Italian last names I have found in my web searches. Take a look at these and maybe you will find some to like: Rossi, Bonaducci, Lamborghini ( I know it sounds like a car, but it’s actually the name of the founder of the famous Italian automaker), Santarossa, Barone, Russo, Pantoliano, Tarsitani, Carapella, Bastone, Ferrari, Mazzagatti, Rimoldi, Ciccocelli, Fellini, Cappello, Esposito, Costello, Armani, Tacchini, Alessi, De Luca, Bianchi, Vincitori, Capicotto, Bonasera, Romano, Colombo, Ganotti, Bonaventura, Gallo, Minelli, Ricci, Fischetti, Mancini, Lombardi, Rizzo, Cigini, Veronese.

These are just a few examples, but I really like all Italian names, as they sound so well, especially when an Italian pronounces them. I just love the way they prolong the double consonants in a word. If you ask me I could not pick only one of these names. But I guess it all depends on everybody’s taste and language sense. After you choose several names from this list or some other ones, make sure you find the origin and explanation of that name because it might get even more interesting if you know all these details. After all, you wouldn’t want to name your hero after a famous dish or choose one with some trivial connotations just out of ingorance. Trust me: it does not look good even if it sounds interesting.
