In case you’d really like to pimp up your keyboard, but you can’t afford to spend that much money on the Optimus Maximus LED keyboard from Art Lebedev, here’s an interesting alternative for you. The Luxeed multi-color LED keyboard won’t be displaying icons on your keys, but it sure knows how to put on a light show. The first version was only available in Korea, but know the keyboard is up for worldwide availability.
The Luxeed keyboard has been recently added to the ThinkGeek lineup of crazy gadgets. Luxeed provides brightly colored programmable keys that could easily transform your desk or work space into an artistic environment. Check out the demo clips:
>
Each Luxeed keyboard integrates 430 individual colored LEDs, and all of these can be programmed to light up in cool patterns using the included Windows software. You can choose among a series of included patterns or you can go ahead and program customized patterns yourslef.
The LED-powered keyboard is available in black or white for $199.99 each. However, the Luxeed keyboard does not include the right numeric keys that come standard with a QWERTY keyboard. To get the numeric part you’ll need to pay an additional $34.99, and keep in mind that this add-on is not LED-powered.
You can order one of these from the ThinkGeek.com site right away.
I assume you all know that notorious Hummer car. It’s supposed to be the ultimate 4X4 car out there. While there’s no denying this car can take some of the nastiest environments out there (since it was specifically built for the US army first and foremost), the Hummer can prove to be one of “the ultimate boy toys.”
<-125x125 Button - right->Ubergizmo informs that Dr. James Brighton and his team from Cranfield University in Bedfordshire have managed to transform the Hummer H3 into a remote controlled vehicle, making it the biggest boy toy so far. He used a right hand drive Hummer instead of a downscaled version, which took about a month to be transformed. Dr. James comments: “The results are clear – all controllers will be amazed by the handling ability – the best any radio controlled vehicle has had to date.
The RC Hummer is able to climb a 407mm vertical wall, go down a 40 per cent side slope and operate in up to 610mm of water. It can easily be controlled to drive over obstacles, cross rivers and do all the things you wouldn’t want to do while in the car yourself. However, you might want to be gentle with it from time to time, as it costs you $70,000 after all. Also, you should check if the auto insurance covers remote control accidents. Here’s the RC Hummer doing its thing:
Cooking is most of the time associated with women. It’s more of an ancestral analogy, rather than something that reflects the reality today. There sure are exquisite male chefs out there, but we tend to think that women in general are more likely to provide better cooked food, because it’s in their genes. However, this might sound like discrimination, and men are ready to exert some cooking powers. Apparently, a company called Pandigital is entirely made of men who really want to explore their food-related talents, because I can’t figure out why else they released the Kitchen Technology Center.
OK, the basic premise is that men a re a bit geeky when it comes to computers and electronics, so, in order to be more appealing to men, the Kitchen Technology Center comes in the form of a touchscreen device that puts functionality and entertainment right at your fingertips, while you somehow happen to be looking for a beer in the fridge. You can’t really drink that beer with an empty belly, right? Why not prepare something delicious to go with that beer, or wine, or whatever drink you have handy? Nope, no sandwiches allowed. C’mon, just use that touchscreen.
Are you thinking of a certain recipe? Don’t run back to the computer or crack open a cook book… no time for that. Just access the KTC. It comes preloaded with tons of recipes, plus you can cruise the net and add more. Need some musical background? No problem, the KTC has one gigabyte of memory that you can toss MP3s on, as well as photos and video. It comes with a 15 inch, 1280×720 that also supports HDTV playback.
The KTC is going to be available starting this August for $400.
If you somehow got tired of washing and cleaning all your food before actually cooking it, here’s something that is supposed to cut you some slack.
Looks like some weird hi-fi turntable to me. In fact, it’s far from anything that has to do with vinyl records, although it involves sound. The Coway SWV-08AM is the latest in megasonic cleaning devices. With the durable and beautifully finished surgical stainless steel body, this cleaner provides you with an easier way to remove dirt and agrochemicals from your favorite raw food. It uses sound waves to clean produce, meats, fruit and groceries as well as dishware, pots, pans and flatware with little to no detergent.
The megasonic principle is quite simple: powerful sound waves induce a micro cavitation effect, shaking impurities loose from surfaces. Coway integrated the controller and faucet into this device, designing the SWV-08AM like a conventional faucet, small and easy to use and install. The water flowing through the jet spray faucet head washes impurities away, preventing second-hand contamination.
In addition, you also get a P-Sediment filter for cleaner water. The P-Sediment filter has numerous folds on its surface to enlarge its filtration area, boosting its ability to remove fine particles in water. There are two large buttons labeled strong and soft, which allow you to select the proper water pressure for heavy-duty tasks like washing dishes or more sensitive tasks like cleaning fruits and vegetables.
Life in a kitchen can get pretty boring sometimes. That’s why one invented the LCD TV fridge and other handy gimmicks that would make life easier while you boil your brains along with crispy turkeys.
One of those weird gimmicks is the LCD kitchen cutting board. From Nardo Design. The high-tech Digital Cutting Board comes equipped with a flexible LCD display that displays cooking instructions on it so that you can become a cuisine expert in no time. All the while you try to decipher the dubious ingredients you may also read up downloaded recipes that you might want to try out in the future.
Marc Nardangeli designed the cutting board with style in mind. The hi-tech board sits on rubber feet, which support an acrylic board. In turn, the acrylic board contains the circuitry to run the flexible LCD panel that sits on top of it. All this neatly arranged package is sealed with a safety tempered glass panel, which allows for quick touchscreen operation. In order to download more recipes you may connect the board to the Internet.
The topmost features come in the form of chromium handles. All the above components are environment friendly. Though still a concept, your female part of the family could appreciate this kind of present.
