Coolest It Jobs
Friday, June 18th, 2010 |I am sure that you remember that when you were just a child all the relatives wanted to know what job you wanted to have when you grew up. Of course it is a stupid thing to ask a five year old about the plans for the future because at this age children have a vague idea about life in general and they know nothing about the skills you need to perform a certain job . But I guess all adults do that just to have fun at the innocent answers of the children. Of course they will choose the jobs that make an impression on them because they regard those people doing that particular job almost like superheroes.

So all the boys want to be astronauts, firefighters, policemen, F1 drivers and other similar jobs and the girls want to be top models, singers, doctors, ballerinas . I have never heard any children they wanted to be accountants or shop assistant for example, as they are too boring jobs and the children show no interest in them.
But the funny thing is that you finish highschool and then university studies and you still have no idea what to do next. You went to study IT because everyone does that these days but then you wonder what are the coolest IT jobs and if there is any possibility for you to get one.
I saw a conest on TV last year and the winner got the best job ever: to live on an island and advertise it. And he got paid really nice money for this. Ok, but not everybody can dream of such a job, as the opportunity only appeared once and there was only one winner (it was not me). So I’d better start looking for IT jobs that seem to be really high positioned on an hierarchic scale.

I asked around and I found out that the general impression, including mine, is that one of the coolest IT jobs is to be a computer games tester. It is every man’s dream to stay all day long playing on the computer and being paid for this. Everybody knows that men are a lot more addicted to computers than women and if they have nothing else to do they can stay in from of their computer playing all day long.
Actually I once heard a very funny joke about it that said the biggest difference between men and boys is the price of the toys. So wouldn’t it be nice to play new computer games all day long, having the possibility to test the games that have not reached the market yet?

Of course it would, but these guys are not paid the heavy money just to have fun. They must play in order to find out if there are any bugs in the game and if there are any to identify them and fix them, to find the right solution for every problem that might appear. If it’s too difficult to get from one level to another, these guys have to invent some new ways of making the game more attractive and invent new weapons to make it look more realistic.
They must step in the shoes of the real computer user that will play that game and see if they are satisfied with the quality of the game or not. So it’s actually pretty hard to do that, too.Oh, and the second on my list with the coolest IT jobs is to be a hacker paid by the CIA to break codes.
