Coolest Fish
Wednesday, June 16th, 2010 |Earth is three quarters covered with water, so it’s normal to have a big population of fish in its seas and oceans. Just like people and all the other animals, fish are very different depending on species and the place where they live. Like many animals, in fact almost all of them, fish have developed an incredible ability to adjust to the environment in order to avoid getting killed by other fish or other enemies or even men.

So they change color and become very similar to the environment where they live and this way they are very hard to distinguish. This saves their lives most of the time and this is an incredible defense mechanism. Men have learned from animals how to use camouflage and have used it in wars, so, yes, we have a lot of things to learn from the animals around us if you pay a little attention.
Fish have appeared on this planet earlier than men. Still, when the man has finally started to explore the surroundings of their birth place, they also started fishing and hunting, as it was the easiest way to get food, except for picking fruit, of course. So fish have been a part of our lives since the most ancient times, since our beginning as a species.
Some fish species are now extinct because men have fished too much and some people have also became quite fond of them, turning them into pets rather than fish them for food. That is how fish tanks have appeared in our homes and fish were now admired for their beauty and physical features, not for taste. There are now a lot of huge underwater aquariums that allow the visitors to see the real underwater world, the place where fish live naturally in their environment.
All the fish are so graceful and nice that I sometimes wonder what is the coolest fish in the world. Of course the answer to this question is very subjective, as different people like different things, so I think I will offer you more possible answers, so you just check the pictures and decide which one you like best.
In my opinion, one of the coolest fish ever is the white shark because it’s really big and ferocious, being able to cut a man’s leg with one bite. It is clever and ruthless, but still graceful. Then it’s the blow-fish – the one fish that looks like a balloon but only once in a while, when it wants to get to the surface. It’s great mechanism of transportation and it’s also very fast. All the fish that live in the warm waters near the Equator and the tropics are really cool because they are beautifully colored.
One of the coolest fish ever is Macropinna microstoma, a fish that lives near the coast of California and which has a transparent head – you can see it if you follow this link. You can see all the contents of its head, even if the body is completely normal. Some other cool fish are: Arapaimas Giga, Stingray, Polypterus, Lungfish, Snakehead, Wolf fish, the African spotted leaf fish, Electric eel and catfish and maybe the Knifefish .Of course you can come up with your own preferences.
