Everybody wants the latest gadgets and devices because basically their new and shinny. However, there are a few people out there that always buy the products on the last life cycle, cards, camcorders, phones, and computers and get them for a bargain. Not a bad policy for someone who doesn’t live in the “new” shadow obsession. One of these bargains is the 80 GB HD Handycam camcorder from Sony.
<-300×250 Medium Rectangle – center->
It looks a little older than the rest of the models, but is sure brings enough key features such as the 1920 x 1080 high definition video recording, the face detection technology, 2.7 inches touch panel, smile shutter, 4 megapixel still images, excellent digital and optical zoom. In terms of design, this camcorder is a little big, but its body is made out of metallic look alike plastic with three colors, silver, grey and black. You are probably going to enjoy this design since at touch it really feels quite nice.
The materials used look nice, and brings a good style to the design, while the quality of build is more than solid. I can easily make an almost general rule. Beware of new designs with the thinnest and lightest form factors since they are the most dangerous. You don’t really know how durable these designs are. However, (just like the angular design of the laptops) this bulkier body of this camcorder will provide you with a safe construction for the hardware specs.
With a height of 69 mm (or 2 ¾ inches), wide of 68 mm (or 2 ¾ inches), deep of 129 mm (or 5 1/8 inches), this Sony camcorder weights about 410 grams (or 14.5 oz) with the battery included or 330 grams (or 11 oz) without the battery. The battery included into this camcorder is a Lithium Ion battery with the Accu Power Meter System.
When using the camcorder the power consumption will be about 3.9 Watt. In the input and output department you are going to get several ports, slots, and jacks. First of all, the audio and video remote terminal is present as an audio, video, and S video. Also, you get the audio and video output (analog), the digital audio and video output (also known as HDMI), one 2.0 USB port, the component video, and the s video output. An important feature of the 80 GB HD Handycam camcorder from Sony is the 80 GB internal memory, enough for 32 hours of video recording in high definition format.
Therefore, in high definition format you can record up to 580 minutes in FH, up to 1180 minutes in HQ, 1440 minutes in SP, and 1920 minutes in LP. While in the standard definition format you can save about 1180 minutes in HQ, 1750 minutes in SP, and 3360 minutes in LP. Also, if you need more memory space you can easily expand this value by using a memory card, Memory Stick PRO Duo Media.
This camcorder includes a 2.7 inches wide touch display, with the Clear Photo technology and a sufficient resolution, 210000 pixels. Also the display can easily rotate 270 degrees, and render great images or videos, thanks to the vibrant colors, excellent brightness, and good viewing angles. Also, the LCD panel sports the power on and off function. All the recorded videos are saved when using the high definition format in MPEG4 AVC / H.264, and when using the standard definition in MPEG2 format.
The maximum video resolution used is 1920 x 1080 pixels, with two different aspect ratio, 16 to 9 and 4 to 3. All the recorded videos will be completed with the proper audio sounds, since Sony added into this camcorder the Dolby Digital 5 in 1 channels audio recording format. The maximum resolution for still pictures is 4 megapixels. All the pictures taken are saved in JPEG file format.
This device uses the 1 / 5 inches Exmor CMOS sensor (including the Clear Video array technology), and the BIONZ image processor. If we are in the hardware department I should remind one or two things about the optics. This camcorder sports the Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar lenses, with the 35 mm equivalent of 42 mm to 467 mm in the 16 to 9 aspect ratio, and 52 mm to 608 mm in the 6 to 3 aspect ratio. The aperture is varying from F1.8 to F2.2. The total digital zoom has a value of 120x, while the optical zoom provides a value of 10x.
The focal distance can vary between 3.2 mm to 32 mm, with a full range auto focus in hand (or if needed a manual focus also). An excellent feature is the dual record with 2.3 megapixel still image capture. Therefore, while video recording you can easily take pictures without interrupting the video capture (but only with the maximum resolution of 2.3 megapixels). Other excellent features include the face detection, the Steady Shot image stabilization, the Dynamic Range Optimizer, Smile Shutter technology, and several scene modes such as landscape, portrait, snow, beach, candle, sunrise, twilight, auto and others.
Other features are also available and include several settings for both movie and pictures editing. The most important connection on this camcorder is the 2.0 USB connections (which will provide a fast transfer of files between your camcorder and computer), and HDMI connection (easy use it to connect your camcorder to your BRAVIA powered LCD for an excellent user experience). In order to connect this Sony camcorder to your computer, you must use one of the following operating systems, Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4, Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 both 32 bit and 64 bit version. However, a connection will never be established between your camcorder and computer if you are using any Mac operating system.
Therefore, mount Boot Camp on your Mac computer and install one of the previous mentioned Windows operating systems. Sony included in the retail box, beside the actual camcorder and the battery pack, the AC adaptor, the audio and video connecting cable, the CD Software, the USB cable, and the audio and video component. Overall, the 80 GB HD Handycam camcorder from Sony still packs enough features to provide excellent performances. Even more its $749.99 price tag is much smaller than the $1299.99 of the 120 GB Handycam camcorder.

If you have read yesterday’s article then you probably found out about the point and shoot video camera Webbie HD. However, the yesterday’s video camera is not the only one in Sony’s portfolio that sports this name. Yesterday’s Webbie High Definition camera also included its unique code (since this is the only way these days to separate Sony products) MHS PM1/D. however, Sony sports another Webbie High Definition with the following code, MHS CM1/V. Basically don’t expect different specs, because this model is very much similar with the MHS PM1/D. the obvious difference is the design. But even in this department these two Webbies HD boast similarities, like the colors they are available in, Orange, Silver, and Eggplant. Also, Sony included the same advertising campaign, which hopefully will be chanced until the shopping season in December.
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
“Upload you life”, might just work for a small part of the video cameras potential customers, but for the Webbies HD to become a market success, Sony must change the advertising scheme and deliver a refresh to these models improving not only the quality materials used but also some tech features, such as the auto focus. In terms of design the MHS CM1/V Webbie High Definition sports a classic design for a portable video camera, with the display cover opening on the left side and swiveling in order to record you without any problems or just get a better handling in any possible moment. This video camera is made out of the same tough matte plastic, like the other camera, but this model looks much cheaper than the other one. This is due probably because of the not metallic looks of the body. Even more bad news, the plastic is slippery and if you drop this camera be sure that when it will hit the ground it will break into pieces.
The display cover sports all the necessary logos to identify the product, “Sony” logo, “HD” logo, the product number, the “5 megapixel” logo and the format of the recordings, “MP4″. The camera lenses are surrounded by an even more cheaply looking plastic. You don’t really get many buttons or ports to work with. In terms of inputs and outputs, the MHS CM1/V sports a multi output, both audio and video, also a multi remote terminal with both audio and video and also a 2.0 USB port. You also get lens cover. However it is only a manual plastic cap. On the bottom side you can find the memory card slot with Memory Stick Pro memory card compatibility and also Memory Stick Pro Duo memory card. You don’t get any inbuilt memory, but then again it is more easy to transfer the data on the memory cards by just inserting them into your laptop’s memory card slot, rather than transferring them using the USB connection.

This Sony product sports a height of 61 mm (2 ½ inches), wide of 43 mm (1 ¾ inches), deep of 105 mm (4 ¼ inches) the
Webbie High Definition MHS CM1/V weights about 210 grams (or 7 oz with the battery included), making this camcorder not the lightest on the market. Even so the dimensions are very acceptable for a point and shoot video camera (and an occasionally photo camera). Because the battery subject came up, this Sony product sports an internal rechargeable Lithium Ion battery with power consumption, while working, of 2.3 Watt, sufficient to provide about 85 minutes of recording at the highest resolution. The battery can be recharged anytime (even when using it) but it will need at least three hours for a complete charge. The recording process is much simpler than the one from the previous
Webbie HD thanks to the 2.5 inches LCD display with a 4 to 3 panel, capable of rendering about 153000 colors.

This display is fixed within a display cover that is capable of swiveling about 270 degrees, with the only purpose to offer the best user experience a point a shoot video camera can deliver nowadays. Professional camcorders offer way more excellent features, but then again their not as portable or as a matter a fact not as cheap as this camera. When you open the LCD cover, the
Webbie High Definition powers up almost instantaneously. Getting ready for the whole general specs and lenses specs? Probably, you and everyone else, since this camera is a new product type and the only way to understand its purpose is to quietly analyze the physical data Sony was kind enough to provide.

Therefore, you get a 1 / 2.5 inches CMOS image sensor, with a real pixel count of 5 megapixels. The pictures resolution can only be in the full mode (5 megapixel with the 4:3), while the video’s actual mode can be in either high Definition format with the two available resolutions, 1440 x 1080 pixels with 30 frames per second, 1280 x 720 pixels with 30 frames per second, or in the Standard Definition format with 640 x 480 pixels with 30 frames per second. You also get with the
Webbie HD the 41 mm to 203 mm (in the 16 to 9), and from 38 mm to 190 mm (in the 4 to 3), while the aperture included is F3.3. The total digital zoom allowed is 20x, with a focal distance varying between 6.4 mm to 31.4 mm, and an optical zoom of 5x. The shutter speed also varies from 1/30 to 1/4000. All the video resolution available can be stored on a maximum Memory Stick Pro Duo memory card of 16 GB.

You can record about 340 minutes of video within the 1440 x 1080 pixels with 30 frames per second, 510 minutes with the 1280 x 720 pixels with 30 frames per second, and 990 minutes for the 640 x 480 pixels resolution with 30 frames per second. Also, to improve the quality of recorded video, Sony included a LED light which will improve the light conditions in the darker environment conditions. The recorded videos will be saved with the MPEG4 AVC / H.264 also known as MP4 for a better compatibility with both Microsoft and Mac operating systems. You can also connect the
Webbie HD to an out source such as LCD display using either NTSC video signal or PAL video signal.
Sony included in the retail box beside the Webbie HD and the battery packs, one AC adaptor, one audio and video connecting cable, one USB cable, wrist strap, component audio and video cable, and the CD software. Sony is currently offering the Webbie HD MHS CM1/V with a special offer, including in the retail box a 2 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo within the same price list, $199.99. Overall, this point and shot video camera is an interesting product, not a real camcorder, and not a digital camera capable of recording videos. Its only competitor is the other Webbie HD MHS PM1/D.

There is not much to say about the point and shot camera. Everyone knows one or two things about them, or even knows these cameras by hart. However, every once in a while a manufacturer decides to upload into its website, under the point and shot cameras, particularly devices that are not yet proper featured on the market. If you though Sony, you were right. All the rest of you, it’s time to get some tutoring with nowadays gadgets and manufacturers. Sony included in the “points and shot line” one strange little device called, even weirder, “Webbie HD Camera“.
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
Don’t get me wrong, it looks really nice, and it sounds to be useful, but what is it doing in the point and shot line? Since it is very difficult to create a new device brand, especially in this economy, with extreme amount of money directed into marketing and advertising, Sony decided to let another manufacturer do that and include the Webbie HD into the point and shot line.
This device is more an amateur camcorder with ridiculous dimensions and also capability of taking good photos. Therefore, by now all the point and shot cameras were taking pictures and they could even record movie clips, but with the Webbie HD, you record movies primarily and if you need and choose so you can take pictures. Its key features are not exactly mind blowing, because of the bad advertising, you get an “Upload your life” slogan, and that about it.
Sony hasn’t included any key features in this device’s presentation. I will however underline some key features, such as 5 megapixel camera for both still images and video record, good LCD display (although is quite small), nice featured shooting movies buttons. In terms of design, the Webbie HD is as interesting as it can get. The body is made out of a pattern plastic, which with the special colors make it look metallic. It is not the best quality work, Sony ever has done but for this price range it surely works.
The case is not glossy. Therefore, the Webbie HD is not slippery, it is not a fingerprint magnet, and depending on the color chosen it can successfully get over minor scratches. On the front cover you get Sony logo, the HD logo, and a few other inscriptions. At the bottom of the front cover going on the bottom side you get the cover fot the memory card, while on the back side you get the LCD display with a scroll (for different shooting modes), a photo buttons, a movie buttons, for way navigational pad, and another two keys. The actual camera lenses are included in a 270 degrees movable hinge, making the photo and movie experience as great as it could have. You can easily take photos of you without thinking if your head is in the shot.
When you rotate the swivel lenses the camera powers on and it is ready to either take pictures or record movies almost immediately. With a height of 103 mm (4 1/8 inches), wide of 55 mm (2 ¼ inches), deep of 24 mm (15/16 inches), the Webbie HD camera weights about 120grams (or 4.2 oz) with the battery included, making the camera ultraportable and easy to slip into any pocket.
Speaking of battery, Sony included a Lithium Ion battery which should be enough for about 100 minutes of movie recording. Sony included a multi analog audio and video output, an audio and video remote terminal, component video output and a 2.0 USB port in the High Definition camera. Even more you can choose from three different colors, Eggplant, Orange, and Silver. I guess by now you already imagine what color will improve Webbie’s design.
Sony included into this camera a 5 megapixel CMOS sensor with excellent lens features, such as the 47 mm (or 16 to 9), 57 mm (or 4 to 3), the F3.6 aperture, about four digital zoom, with a focal distance of 7.0 mm, with fixed focus. The four digital zoom will let you capture closer details, but you have to be careful because the Webbie HD lack auto focus. Also included is the 1.8 inches with 4 to 3 aspect ratio LCD display, rendering up to 230000 colors. This display might be little buy it sure provides not only good viewing angles but also excellent brightness level indoors and outdoors as well.
Thanks to the Webbie HD you will be able not only to take pictures but also to record movies in high definition MP4. By using this format, Sony is clearly trying to attract as many customers it can get, since the MP4 format is compatible not only with computers that run Windows operating system but also with Mac computers running the Mac operating system. Also MP4 is very used online, also, making the whole making movies and posting them on the web process, a lot more easy then you might think.
Because the camera offers two buttons for both still and movie buttons, the user experience will certainly be a favorite aspect of this camera. Therefore, the MPEG 4 AVC / H.264 movies can easily be watched using the NTSC / PAL output available. Even more you get three resolutions for recording videos, the high definition mode with 1440 x 1080 pixels with 30 frames per second, the 1280 x 720 pixels with 30 frames per second, and the 640 x 480 pixels with 30 frames per second.
The Webbie HD doesn’t include an onboard memory, making it mandatory to use a Memory Stick Pro Duo, up to 6 GB compatible. If you chose this value memory card, then you should now that it will last you for 340 minutes of video recording at 1440 x 1080 pixels with 30 frames per second, 510 minutes for the 1280 x 720 pixels resolution with 30 frames per second, and 990 minutes for the VGA resolution with 30 frames per second. you can easily chose form ten different scene modes such as sports, auto, backlight, low light, landscape and others.
Sony included in the retail shipping box beside the Webbie HD camera and battery pack, the audio and video connecting cable, the USB cable, one wrist wrap, the component audio and video cable, and the CD Software. Overall the Webbie HD camera is not a usual device easy to compare and judge. However, my honest opinion is that if you don’t mind the $169.99 price tag, the Webbie High Definition camera is one of the most portable devices capable of recording in two high definition modes, making it extremely attractive for the average users.

Although Sony Ericsson phones were never well designed, offering a rather strange design, with “hate it or love it” profile, the rest of the Sony devices sport excellent design, and many of them actually included a stylish design. The same goes to Cyber Shot point and shot digital cameras from Sony. Many of them, not only look excellent, but they also have a great build quality, leaving a remarkable user experience.
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
Even more, these digital cameras are made out of high quality materials; sport an elegant design and their offered for a rather average price tag. However, at their core these Cyber Shot point and shot digital cameras include average specs offered on a detailed package. Therefore, Sony didn’t successfully merge both excellent design and high quality features. Even so, the hardware specifications should be enough for everyday users who are looking to stand out through their look and their devices designs.
The Cyber Shot Digital Camera TX1 is one of Sony’s master pieces. In terms of key features I must underline the 3.0 inches touch screen display, the high definition movie mode, the four optical zoom, and about 10 frames per second at the maximum 10.2 megapixel value. As for the design, well it’s certainly exquisite. First of all, Sony allows you to choose from four different colors, such as grey, blue, silver, and even pink (for the Paris in you – you know you want it).
Another nice feature is the possibility to engrave your own TX1 camera just like the iPods. This is certainly a nice feature and will make your camera more personal, however, it will diminish to value on the second hand market, in case you are planning to sell it and buy a new piece in a few months. Every purchase is subjective, and depends entirely upon the potential customers desires and plans. In terms of design, the first element you are going to find is the nice metallic cover that shields the camera lenses form dust and shocks. This cover sports both logos, Sony and Cyber Shot, but their perfectly integrated making the cover looks extremely nice.
The rest of the camera is made out of a rough matte plastic, but not the cheap plastic found on other devices but a nicer looking and great to touch plastic. The back of the TX1 only sports a centered touch screen display making the design even more exquisite. You only get a few buttons, while the connectivity is ensured by audio output and video output (using multi use connector), HDMI output, and 2.0 USB connections.
This Sony camera has a height of 58.2 mm (or 2 3/8 inches), wide of 93.8 mm (or 3 ¾ inches), deep of 16.5 mm (or 21/32 inches); the Cyber Shot TX1 weights about 119 grams (or 4.2 oz) and 142 grams (or 5.0) with the battery included. The 3.0 inches touch screen display sports the Clear Photo LCD Plus technology, capable of rendering up to 230000 pixels. This display offers sufficient brightness in both indoors and outdoors environments.
It will also provide vibrant colors and good viewing angles. In terms of camera capabilities, the TX1 sports a 10.2 megapixel camera with 1 / 2.4 inches or 7.59 mm sensor, and a BIONZ processor. In burst mode, the TX1 will succeed in taking 10 frames per second at maximum pixels. You get several edit features for photos, such as the red eye reduction with both on and off, but also with auto mode. In case you might need taking delayed pictures you have the self timer with three modes, off, two seconds, or ten seconds.
All the images taken by the TZ1 are saved in JPEG format either on the small internal memory of 11 MB 9flash memory that is), or either on the compatible memory cards (Memory Stick Duo memory card, Memory Stick Pro Duo high speed memory card and Memory Stick Pro Duo memory card, and memory Stick HG Duo, up to 16 GB compatibility). Even more, Sony included other features such as the optical steady shot image stabilizer (just in case you want to take a snap shot).
Also play a little with all the scene modes available, such as backlight portrait, backlight, macro, landscape, portrait, close focus, twilight portrait and others. You will be happy to know that Sony included in this Cyber Shot model an excellent white balance found on other siblings of the TX1 (the high tech digital cameras). Therefore, you get different white balance modes such as the blue water mode, green water mode, auto mode, daylight, cloudy, fluorescent (with three different modes), incandescent, flash and many other more.
Because the TX1 sports a Vario Tessar lenses you can expect the best tech specs available on the point and shoot cameras. Therefore you get, 35 mm equivalent with an auto aperture range of F3.5 to F4.6.
No problems in the zoom department since you get both precision digital zoom and smart zoom. With the smart zoom technology you get in the 5 megapixel mode about 5.6 x total zoom, in the 3 megapixel mode about 7.1 x total zoom available, and in the VGA mode about 22 x total zoom (in the 16 to 9 aspect ratio you get about 7.6 x total zoom). The TX1 can also detect up to eight faces with several priorities for you to choose from.
The TX1 also includes the normal sensitivity for nowadays digital cameras, ISO with Auto / 125 / 200 / 400 / 800 / 1600 / 3200; but enough with the photo department because the TX1 also sports video capabilities. You get to edit not only pictures taken but also movies taken in the available modes, 640 x 480 pixels with 30 frames per second, 1280 x 720 pixels (standard quality) with 30 frames per second, and 1280 x 720 pixels (fine quality) with about 30 frames per second. The best feature included by Sony in TX1 is the possibility of shooting movies in high definition. You can record up to 2 GB in high definition with the 29 minute equivalent.
The Cyber Shot TX1 is compatible when connected with Windows XP Home edition, Professional with Service Pack 3, Windows Vista with Service Pack 2, and Mac Leopard and Snow Leopard. Sony included in the shipping box beside the camera unit and battery, the mandatory charger, stylus, wrist strap, USB / AV cable, and CD software. Overall, the Sony Cyber Shot TX1 is a nice balanced camera. If you are looking for a great styled digital camera with average specs but great performances, then the TX1 might just be yours for $379.99 price tag.

Is fashion the key element that helps you through the day? You and another billion people, try to survive in the modern jungle by just focusing your early thoughts into style. Even so, during the day you might need some stimulant to finish the day without wanting to run away from the city, into a beautiful small town or village. Therefore, manufacturers are trying to offer more and more devices that are not only good, that don’t just offer excellent features, but that also look exquisite. What can you carry to your work? Your stylish laptop, fancy touch screen phone, nice wrist watch, and you’re almost done. But on your free time (if you have something close to a free time) what can you carry around you as a statement of your style credo?
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
Probably the correct answer would be the Sony’s excellent point and shoot camera with full touch screen display and almost no buttons, the Cyber Shot Digital Camera G3. You can’t imagine how great looking this digital camera is, until you keep it in your hands. Beside the looks, this camera also sports key features that are for sure high end features offered for an average price tag.
Therefore, you get Wi-Fi connectivity to share in real life your pictures either by sending them through email or posting them on special networking sites, and the excellent 3.5 inches extra fine LCD touch screen display. However, these features are just the beginning, and by margining all these ingredients, Sony successfully created a best seller. The Cyber Shot Digital Camera G3 sports an ultra slim design. With only 16.4 mm, this Cyber Shot camera is easy to take around anywhere you might go (easy to slip in any pocket without even feeling it). The DSC G3 is offered only in black. However, this is a good thing. The front of the DSC G3 sports a metallic black cover. You have to slide this cover from left to right in order to unveil the camera lenses.
The titanium cover has two engraved silver logos, “SONY” logo and “Cyber Shot” logo. On the back you will get a nice to touch and look at matte black plastic which feels by far cheap. Sony really invested time and money into refining every corner of this camera. You don’t really get buttons. Overall, maybe you will notice about three buttons, two keys and two switches. However, all these are smartly included and you can’t really notice them without trying really hard. The only switch that is logged is the Power switch. Overall, the design is not great, is excellent sports an excellent style and a flawless build quality.
The DSC G3 sports a 10.1 megapixel 1 / 2.3 type (7.70 mm) CCD image sensor. The specs for the lenses are quite impressive (which shouldn’t be a surprise for nobody since we are talking about Carl Zeiss optics). The Aperture range is either Auto or Program Auto, both with F3.5 – F10. The digital zoom is a smart zoom with the possibility of shutting it off. This optics also have included face detection feature, capable of detecting up to eight faces with four priorities, Auto, Child, Touch, and Adult. You get a 6.18 mm to 24.7 mm focal length, with a nine points focus. Sony also included a macro mode with auto macro, close focus enabled and macro on.
The optical zoom is enabled only at 4 xs, while in terms of speed depending on the pictures taken the shutter speed varies from ¼ to 1/1000. The total zoom enabled for this particular digital camera is almost 8x. The Carl Zeiss Vario – Tessar camera lenses are excellent. You may think that 10 megapixels are not enough, but in reality not the megapixels numbers matter but the specs behind them, the camera lenses features. The face detection features is almost common nowadays in good digital cameras. Besides detecting the faces, this feature will also control the focus, the flash, reduce the red-eye effect, and even control the white balance.
The eight face detection features sports the Intelligent Scene Recognition Mode name. This feature will easily integrated the proper settings once scanned the faces in the pictures (portrait, landscape, twilight simple, using a tripod, or even portrait, backlight and others). Beside the obvious Auto mode, this feature also enables the access to Advanced Mode which can reevaluate almost immediately the conditions for the next pictures. If you are planning to take snapshots, then you are in luck, this camera provides Optical Steady Shot feature.
This feature will enable you to take the best images you can even if the subject is moving, or if you are moving. Even more software features embedded in the DSC G3 are the Dynamic Range Optimizer feature, which will determine the best settings that must be applied for the current environment before taking the picture, and the Anti blink feature which will definitely remove any chance to get your photo subjects with their eyes closed. This feature will take two pictures and will keep the one without the blink and delete the other one. If you are a semi professional photographer then you will enjoy the semi manual focus which enables you to play a little bit with distances, but also helps you take the better pictures even in a manual mode (that is why they called it semi).
The DSC G3 sports a 3.5 inches LCD display with a maximum color rendering of 921000. This touch screen display offers good brightness, high contrast and excellent viewing angles. Not many digital cameras sport the same excellent touch screen display. In terms of settings, options, and sensitivity, this point and shot Sony camera provides eight ISO different settings, Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, and 3200. You also get four color modes, monochrome, sepia, normal, and vivid. The white balance is completed with enough profiles, auto, natural white fluorescent lighting, day white fluorescent lighting, white fluorescent lighting, daylight, cloudy, underwater, and many other more.
The Cyber Shot Digital Camera G3 sports a memory card reader, even if the onboard memory is about 4 GB (flash memory). The supported memory cards are Memory Stick Duo Media memory card, and Memory Stick Pro Duo Media memory card. Even so, the 4 GB internal memory should be enough for about 40.000 pictures taken in 640 x 480 resolutions, or 950 pictures taken in the best possible resolution. Besides taking excellent pictures, this digital camera can also record in several modes, 640 x 480 pixels with 30 frames per second, 640 x 480 pixels with 16.6 frames per second, and 320 x 240 pixels with 8.3 frames per second. Be warned, that a video record can’t have a length more than 10 minutes. As you can expect this camera is compatible with other Sony gadgets in order to improve at maximum the user’s experience.
Also, once you have taken the pictures you can edit them using 10 settings before showing them on your Bravia LCD. Also, keep all your pictures and videos locked with the password feature. If you get bored of the normal functions of you camera, just download from your computer some audio tracks and listen to them even through the built in speaker. This point and shot camera had both audio and video outputs, HDMI port (the 1080i) and the 2.0 USB high speed port. The DSC G3 is compatible with Windows 2000 Professional, XP Professional, XP Home, Windows Vista, and Mac Leopard and Snow Leopard.
The connectivity is ensured not only by the 2.0 USB port, and the HDMI port, but also by the inbuilt Wi-Fi with 802.11 b/g profile. Sony included in this camera a 680 mAh Lithium Ion battery, which should be enough for 5 hours to 6 hours of intensive use. Also, Sony included in the retail package beside the camera and battery, the battery charger, multi connector cable (for both AV and USB usage), CD Software, Paint Pen, and Wrist Strap. Overall, the DSC G3 is an excellent choice if you are looking for a great looking point and shoot camera with good solid features. The price is not at the bottom of the average line, but for $419.99, the Cyber Shot Digital Camera G3 is a true bargain for what it has to offer.
