Solar Powered Travel Bag

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

While traveling all over the world, trying to make the most of your free time, the last thing you need is to have your MP3 player discharged or the phone or any other gadget that you might own and you use on a regular basis, because it’s a little bit more difficult for you to charge them up.

This means a solar panel would be precisely what the doctor ordered, and what better way to have one than stuffing it inside a Solar Powered Travel Bag? There’s no other, trust me, because it will give you the chance to store your gadgets, on one hand, and charge them up, on the other hand. It’s a convenient and comfortable solution, but, more than anything, it’s an eco-friendly one.

The travel bag comes with protection against overcharge, discharge and short circuit, with a stylish, not to mention portable, design and 1.35W 245mA premium quality crystalline solar cells. What you should know is that a regular cell phone can be charged in approximately 5 hours, but it depends on the battery capacity.

The package consists of the travel bag, the integrated solar panel, the connecting cable, a USB adaptor and three mobile phone adaptors that are compatible with cell phones designed by Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. The Travel Bag can be purchased from Maplin for a price of £14.99 or no more than $25.

Walking stick from Hammacher Schlemmer

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Some of you would think that the walking stick that you can see in the picture below is a regular one, just like any other that you have seen in the past, but it’s not. It’s quite different from the sticks that were and are available in the market, as it comes with an electronic device that is hidden somewhere inside the stick.

This way, the Pedomostick, which is being offered by Hammacher Schlemmer, doubles as a pedometer. This means that the person who resorts to the stick in times of need will be given important information concerning the number of steps they have taken, but the information doesn’t end here. In addition, the stick is able to calculate the calories the user has managed to burn or to measure both the distance and the time.

It’s a very good way for those who can’t walk just like they normally did in the past to find a motivation and to try to create new objectives on a regular basis. Therefore, the Pedomostick is nothing but a helping hand for the people who have troubles with walking.

“This is the walking stick that automatically counts each step you take. A pedometer inside the walking stick tallies your footsteps, calculates calories burned, measures distance traveled, and tracks time spend walking. The readings can be displayed one at a time on a LCD built into the handle. An LED flashlight mounted to the shaft illuminates your path with a steady beam of light or flashes to warn cars or bicyclists of your presence.”

It is made of durable aluminum shaft, while the base is made of rubber, providing the user with stability and safety. Another advantage is the padded ergonomic handle. As it is able to telescope from 37 inches to 52 inches, the Pedomostick can be adjusted to eight different heights.

The stick runs on a replaceable battery, which is included in the package, along with an additional rubber base. You can purchase the stick from Hammacher Schlemmer for no more than $99.95.

Twilight Watch, not related to the movie

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Don’t get too excited, if you’re one of the millions of fans of the movie, because the Twilight Watch I’m about to present has nothing to do with the popular movie that drove people crazy, but with an actual twilight.

The device is quite intriguing, as it was designed to remind all of us the miracle which is known under the name of “sunrise”. We’re talking about a natural phenomenon that is transposed continuously by the Twilight Watch, as its face changes from light to black and back, each 20 seconds that pass by. If you wonder how such thing is possible, then you should know that the optical effect was turned into reality with the help of two polarized disks that were designed to rotate with the seconds.

The case of the watch measures 36 millimeters (which means 1.42 inches) in diameter, being all made of brushed stainless steel. The watch is provided with “a glove-soft black leather band”. A very important aspect is the fact that the device is resistant to water to a depth of 100 feet (or 100 meters).

The Twilight Watch is available at Think Geek, for a price of no more than $119.99, and can be purchased right away. But, as I said, it won’t remind in any way of the movie, just in case you’re one of its adorers!

Unique adjustable air bed from Hammacher Schlemmer

Friday, July 17th, 2009

For those who have a certain “vocation”, if I’m allowed to say so, for always surrounding themselves with the most ingenious products available in the market, Hammacher Schlemmer must be on the top of their list, because it’s the perfect place to find the unique products they’re looking for.

More than that, once you get to this place, you realize there are tons of things that you don’t own, but that you’d have loved to own. And if you think that air beds are not all the rage these days, because there’s nothing new about them, you should know you’re so very wrong.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

Hammacher has come up with something to blow your mind. It is claimed to be the “ONLY adjustable incline inflatable bed” that is available right now in the market. It gives you the possibility to have your head and your shoulders at the height you’d feel most comfortable.

“The backrest is elevated by an inflatable chamber that inflates with the single turn of a dial. An integrated electric pump plugs into AC, inflates, and deflates the bed in four minutes. The bed supports up to 450 lbs. when fully-inflated, and is easy to get in and out of due to its standard bed height of 22″. More comfortable and stable than typical inflatable beds that shake back and forth, this bed uses flex coil construction to provide a movement-rest platform, and it has a soft cotton-feel flocked top that prevents linens from shifting while you are sleeping.”

The bed is available for purchase from Hammacher Schlemmer for a price of $199.95.

Don’t mess with Mother Nature!

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Well, if you weren’t afraid by now, then let me tell you should start being afraid, because if you do dare to mess with Mother Nature, it will find a needle for the devil’s skin. To be more precise, it will wake you up precisely in the happiest moments (of your dreams, of course).

However, it might be that some of you would like to be woken up by sounds of nature in those early mornings when you feel like lazing for a little bit more, but you know you just can’t, because there’s a long hard working day ahead of you and you can’t waste your valuable time.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

So, this transparent Sphere Alarm Clock is designed to help you open your eyes with sounds of nature. It has a light of different colors (seven, actually), six natural sounds, a clock function (it can display the month, date, hour and minute, and the weekday), a snooze function (for those who have troubles with waking up at a precise hour), a snooze interval that can be adjusted from 1 minute to 1 hour, and temperature detection ranging from 0 to 50 degrees Celsius.

The device is powered by 3 AAA batteries which are not included in the package, measures 100 x 97 x 80 millimeters and weighs 145 grams. It’s available at Gadget4All for $16.00.
