Locate great Sat Nav deals

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Satellite navigation systems have become a saviour for many people throughout the world. Many businessmen around the world drive cross country to many meetings they may have that day, one thing they can’t afford to do is to be late.

This is where a Sat Nav can be of use, by simply typing in the postcode it will find the quickest route for you to take. Brands such as TomTom and Garmin are the most popular and Christmas saw a rise in sales as many people hit the roads to visit friends and family in various places.

Advances in technology have meant that manufacturers have to be more inventive. The recently launched TomTom Go 720 Traffic Edition has set a new milestone. It is able to receive live traffic updates via a RDS signal and takes them into consideration when calculating the best route to take.

It is important to make sure you update your Sat Nav regularly as we all know how much roads change and want to ensure you are being sent the correct and quickest route. There is a wide range available and you can compare Sat Nav’s online to make sure you choose the best one.

The Combi iPod Bouncer, probably the best baby seat ever

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

If you ever had the chance to live the experience of taking care of a pregnant woman, then I’m sure you’ve been blessed with all sorts of information that you weren’t familiar with before. There’s no doubt about the fact that you felt like dying whenever you saw her fawning upon you in order to make your heart melt and make her wishes come true. And let me tell you something: no one would blame you, because pregnant women can be very hard to please.

If you don’t have enough patience and sympathy you won’t be able to understand, for example, the reason why they attach headphones to their belly and listen to weird songs that you haven’t heard since you were a little child. They have the strong belief that their unborn offspring is able to hear music and that such sessions will leave their mark on the personality of the baby.

Therefore, many of these women continue this musical habit after the baby is born, because not all the good things should come to an end. On the other hand, what greater experience can you imagine for parents than sharing their favorite songs with their little ones?

You can connect the bouncer to the iPod or to any other type of MP3 player that you might own. In addition, the seat is provided with a canopy that can be removed and a bar with hanging toys that are meant to entertain your child.

Being aimed at six months children and older, with a weight of no more than 25 pounds, the Combi iPod Bouncer can be purchased from Think Geek for $79.99.

Timeless Garden clock runs on mud

Monday, February 16th, 2009

More and more designers are interested these days in creating green devices, from cell phones, to desktop computers or clocks to wake you up in the morning, due to the danger that threatens the whole world.

The Timeless Garden clock is another green gadget that joins the family of eco-friendly devices, being aimed at saving energy, as it doesn’t work by plugging it in or with batteries.

Even if traditional alarm clocks are far from being the embodiment of the definition of “fashionable”, a word that people are so very accustomed to in this new gadgetized era, most of us still need a device to wake us up in those mornings when we just can’t open our eyes without a helping hand.

Most of the digital clocks are powered by AA batteries, but designers are trying their best to come up with better solutions for a “greener” world.

The Timeless Garden is quite unusual, because it uses the organisms that live in the soil, producing a chemical reaction that further generates a small amount of electric charge which keeps the clock working. This means that the Timeless Garden’s life is conditioned by the life of the plant. In addition, the grass realizes the photosynthesis process, which means it extracts a certain amount of carbon from the air (a small one, unfortunately) to release in exchange oxygen.

Created by Francesco Castiglione and Tommaso Ceschi, the Timeless Garden clock is a concept device for the moment.

Alcatel phones made of LEGO bricks?

Friday, February 13th, 2009

When things don’t work according to the expectations, cell phones manufacturers have always a backup or a “plan B”, however you might want to call it, being some sort of escape from the most terrifying nightmares ever.

What happens, for example, when a well known company, but not one of the most popular and profitable, like the France-based Alcatel, is facing some difficult times when it comes to selling its products (aka cell phones)? Troubles must be somehow eliminated, and the best solution is a partnership with a more powerful company. Just like LEGO is. Because, you know, the LEGO brick is probably one of the easiest to recognize products that you can find these days in the market.

There are some recent photos that you can find on several gadgets blogs these days with a LEGO phone that is said to be the result of a strange collaboration, between Alcatel and the famous toys manufacturer. Actually, if you think about it, it ain’t so strange, because there was another similar attempt in the past, when LEGO and Digital Blue teamed up in order to design and develop a line of products made of the bricks you all know very well, aimed at kids. The devices included a digital camera, a walkie-talkie and a MP3 player.

As you can see in the picture above, you can easily detach the plates of the phone, which means you can customize your handset according to your preferences, choosing from a wide variety of keypad colors.

Even if there are some rumors that say that the Alcatel phones will become available sometime during the summer of 2009. As you probably already imagine, there is no information about the pricing either.

Weird headphones in your ears

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Since the first day of my life I’ve been said by each and every person that considered to be entitled to take care of my education that the world consists of two fundamental concepts: the good and the bad. Whenever I wanted to do something, I had to previously think about it, to think about the consequences and about the “compatibility” of my actions with the rules and principles of my own, but of the society also. I was given the freedom to do whatever I wanted, as long as I took responsibility for my decisions.

I bet all my money on the fact that you all know that image of cartoon characters with two little creatures standing on their shoulders: a white one, the angel, and a red one, the devil, a pretty strong symbol of the eternal fight between right and wrong and of the human indecision.

The Angel & Devil earphones from Green House are the perfect illustration of the inner war I am talking about. They’re amusing and affordable, coming in several color combinations, such as black and white, magenta and white, pink and white, purple and white and red and white.

As far as the features are concerned, they include: a frequency response of 20Hz – 20,000 Hz, a maximum power input of 5 mW, an impedance of 16 ohms, a 3.5 millimeters gold-plated connector and the 1 meter cable.

Don’t get too excited, the two little creatures won’t whisper anything in your ears, meaning suggestions concerning things you should or you should not do. They will only play your music over and over again.

If you’re interested in these weird headphones you can go to GeekStuff4U and grab them for no more than $34.
